Traction motors driven by traction converter are used to drive the locomotives. Information of actual RPM attained by the Traction motor is must for closed loop operation of traction converter. Hall Effect based Speed Sensors are used to provide the real time information of traction motor RPM and direction of travel, one sensor gets fitted on each traction motor. It is used for speed control and wheel slip / slide control
